Today is #ThankfulThursday and as part of our ongoing campaign we are celebrating the many wonderful local businesses that we are most grateful to have the pleasure to work with.
In the spotlight today is Egg’cetera – The Handmade Scotch Egg Company. Our ‘Lovely ‘n’ Local buffet which we serve to our delegates at £12 per person features, amongst other items, these delicious Scotch Eggs.
The brainchild of local couple Penny and Neil, The Handmade Scotch Eggs made their first appearance at Teme Valley Farmer’s Market in June 2003. Just half a dozen varieties were on offer that day – now the company produce over 40 varieties (the ‘Smokie Joe’ being one of my faves!), and, astonishingly, they manage to produce between 12 – 15,000 a week!
All ingredients are sourced locally from Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, although the local hens have been exhausted by the phenomenal demand so eggs are now sourced from Kent and Gainsborough.
The eggs are available to buy from local deli’s, farmshops, farmers markets and fairs. We particularly enjoy indulging in ours at Penny and Neil’s latest venture, ‘The Nest’, their fab farm shop on the Hereford Road. Open 7 days a week, the delightful café serves gorgeous grub whilst the farm shop stocks the finest array of food and drink that the county has to offer. The Nest also host monthly Friday Theme nights – from tantalising tapas to bloomin’ lovely burgers! And did I mention the fact that they are licensed…?!
So #thankyou Egg’cetera and The Nest for you marvellous creations and warm hospitality! #ThankfulThursday
